All change! at London Transport Museum, as they open their new cafe bar!
Canteen offers an all-day menu from Benugo that features British classics, from a full English breakfast skillet to bangers and mash, salads and sandwiches, and a special menu for children which even includes train-shaped pasta! See the full menu here.
It is named after the static and mobile canteens that used to cater for London Transport workers during the 1940s and 1950s and celebrates London Transport’s design legacy with moquette seats, posters and maps plus real tiles, seats and signs reclaimed from the Underground.
Canteen is open to the public as well as Museum visitors for breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as snacks, pre-theatre dining, nibbles or just drinks at the bar – including a special cocktail that pays homage to iconic moments in the development of London’s transport network – the Routemaster or the Elizabeth line!
Sunday to Tuesday 9:30 to 18:30
Wednesday to Saturday 9:30 to 19:30
Canteen has been designed to celebrate London Transport’s design legacy as one of the world’s most recognisable brands. Some of the items you’ll be able to see include light fittings that were never installed at Embankment station, wooden benches found in the basement of Wembley Park and Gloucester Road, as well as salvaged luggage racks from 1960s decommissioned trains.
