South Westminster BIDs are committed to creating a safe and secure environment at night and we are working with the Police, external partners and our business members in the nighttime economy to better understand, respond to and prevent sexual harassment and assault. Since reopening after lockdown, there has been an increase in sexual assault and allegations of drink spiking.
The BID invites your organisation and teams to participate in welfare and vulnerability engagement (WAVE) training for safer venues. The 90-minute training session is free, engaging and will equip teams to support vulnerable people and prevent sexual assault or drink spiking in venues. You will also get posters and other assets for the venue if you represent one.

The sessions are suitable for: Security Managers, Facilities Managers, Hospitality staff, security teams and anyone operating in licensed premises, evening or night time venue or transport hub. Pubs, restaurants, hotels, theatres, leisure and hospitality venues.

These briefings are for those with an interest in the safety and security of the area, particularly those working in security. Last month’s briefing focused on the new pedestrianised space, Strand Aldwych, and addressed security concerns such as phone snatching and theft.
