August 2, 2018
Independent Irish craft brewer, Porterhouse Brewing Company has created an Irish contemporary twist on the quintessentially British tradition of afternoon tea.
Based on ingredients that showcase the craft beers’ Irish provenance as well as flavours specifically chosen to enhance the taste profiles of the individual craft beers. The alternative afternoon tea will be available at The Porterhouse, Covent Garden – London’s most popular Irish pub for summer as well as internationally across The Porterhouse sites in Dublin, Wicklow and New York for International Beer Day, 3rd August 2018.
PORTERHOUSE BREWING COMPANY CRAFTERNOON TEA – LIGHT
Porterhouse Pilsner with Mini Pilsner Battered Fish & Chips
The brewery’s Pilsner is a crisp and flavoursome beer chosen for its ability to cut through the fattiness of the fish batter. The addition of aromatic Hallertau Hersbrucker hops, which give a rich maltiness and subtle bitterness to the beer, ensures the Pilsner doesn’t lose any of it’s flavour.
Dublin Pale with Mini Beef Burger & Cashel Blue Cheese
The sharp and salty flavours from the Cashel Blue have been chosen to enhance the orange and lemon characters in the beer.
Porterhouse IPA with Pork Pie & Onion Marmalade
The secret blend of herbs and spices used in the pies as well as the biscuity texture of the hot water crust pastry complement the rich and fruity flavours and malty characteristics of our IPA.
PORTERHOUSE BREWING COMPANY CRAFTERNOON TEA – DARK
Nitro Red with two Irish cheeses – Coolea and Cashel Blue
The fruity and aromatic notes and underlying sweetness of the brewer’s Nitro Red draws out the toffee and cashew notes and sweet profile of the Coolea. The Cashel Blue was chosen as the Nitro Red contrasts and balances the creamy, gentle saltiness of the cheese.
Oyster Stout with Clonakilty Black Pudding on Irish Soda Bread
A twist on the classic pairing of black pudding with seafood – the rich and slightly spicy flavours from the Clonakilty Black Pudding are perfectly be balanced by the sweet minerality that comes through from the freshly shucked oysters that are added to the Porterhouse Brewing Company’s Oyster Stout during the brewing process.
Plain Porter with Dark Chocolate Tart with Maraschino Cherries
The sweet and bitter nature of the dark chocolate, combined with tart sweetness of the cherries, accentuates the bitter notes of the brewer’s award winning Plain Porter.
