Nell Gwynne Tavern

Nip down a side alley and you’ll find one of London’s most characterful pubs, painted phone box red and hung with flowers. Small and buzzy, The Nell Gwynne’s history attracts tourists and city workers, but has the feel of a locals’ pub. Over 300 years old and named after Charles II’s ‘pretty, witty’ mistress, the beer is good, the jukebox is excellent and poor Nellie won’t starve because they make good sandwiches too.
