The Gigs competition has been running since 2009 in partnership with Transport for London and has helped kick-start the careers of Jamie West, Robbie Boyd, James Riley, Natalie Shay, Sam Barnett and Stella & The Shakes.
The competition is open to young Londoners aged 11- 25, whatever musical style from classical to country, beatbox to ballads. You can enter as a solo artist, duo or group of up to 20 members. You can play any instruments but your act must be completely portable – which means you can carry your equipment on foot. You must also be available to perform between 19 July and 9 August [subject to annual changes].
Once entered, if you make it through to the main competition we will ask you to perform at different locations on different days. Our exclusive circuit of Gigs busking pitches covers some of the busiest, most iconic locations in London. Every Gigs pitch is staffed by a Gigs Event Manager and equipped with a battery-powered Roland amp, microphone and stand.
All performers will be filmed and the video uploaded to the Gigs website where the public can vote for their favourites. Along with a panel of experts, the public vote will decide who makes it to the Gigs Grand Final.
