July 14, 2016
On Saturday 2nd July, thousands and thousands of Londoners and visitors discovered world class art in unexpected spaces. It was fantastic to see so many of you exploring the Art Night trail and we hope you had a great time!
The Northbank was delighted to sponsor the event and be the location for the majority of the venues. Cultural events like this really help to emphasise the astonishing character of the area with unrivalled architecture, world-renowned landmarks, hidden gems and fascinating history. Drawing crowds through the Northbank also provides opportunities to neighbouring businesses who can provide breaks for art enthusiasts and explorers. The Savoy had a special menu just for the evening and Gordon’s Wine Bar opened up especially with their own art on display and a DJ all night.
Art Night 2016 was curated by the Institute of Contemporary Arts (ICA) with curator Kathy Noble.
The festival is developed and conceived by Unlimited Productions who will invite a different institution and curator every year to explore a different part of London. The festival is generously supported by international auction house PHILLIPS.
We are extremely excited about the legacy of the inaugural Art Night on the Northbank and are hoping to continue working with the team through to the next one in 2017 which will take over the East End with the Whitechapel Gallery. Watch this space!
