STK wins Concept & Innovation Award at Craft Guild Of Chefs Awards

The Craft Guild of Chefs Awards recognised the cream of the crop of the UK Chef scene at a glittering gala dinner at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel on Monday, June 15th.

Vice Presidents of the Craft Guild of Chefs, Steve Munkley and David Mulcahy hosted the ceremony in front of an audience of 800 industry luminaries. Barry Vera, Chef Director for The ONE Group for STK, who won the Craft Guild’s new Concept & Innovation Chef Award recognising the trendsetter in the industry who is bringing food, fashion and style to the fore.

Four restaurants were nominated for the Concept & Innovation Award, each of the restaurant executive Chefs were asked to record a short video interview to be played in front of the 800 industry luminaries where the audience would nominate who would win this culinary award.

Also amongst the big winners of the night were Nuno Mendes’ Chiltern Firehouse who was named Best New Restaurant of the Year with tough competition from Jason Atherton’s City Social, Kenny Atkinson’s House of Tides and Lee Westcott’s Typing Room and The Special Award, which has previously been awarded to Heston Blumenthal and Marco Pierre White, went to two-Michelin starred chef Sat Bains.

The Craft Guild of Chefs Awards also acknowledged a host of leading lights across the industry, whether they work in a pub, fine dining restaurant, city university, military unit or in contract catering, and even as development chefs for national retailers.
