In the mid 1990’s there were major public realm improvements to the Strand between Trafalgar Square and Aldwych. Pavements were widened and street clutter was removed.
This followed more recently with refurbishments of some of the adjacent historic courts and alleys. The most recent has been Carting Lane which is part of a well used walk from the Embankment Gardens to Covent Garden. At the same time Trafalgar Square has been transformed. The traffic and enhancement scheme now some ten years old, opened up the Square and created new pedestrian areas along the north terrace.
