As part of launch celebrations that took place on 29 April the BID set a new GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS™ title for, “Fastest time to shake 100 hands by an individual”, on the North Terrace , Trafalgar Square. Hundreds watched and tensions ran high as BID Ambassadors competed for the fastest time. Our team of dedicated ambassadors patrol the area helping the public with directions, informing of things to see and do and reporting on environmental issues.
The world record attempt held in partnership with The Welcome People was designed to highlight their work and exceptional warm welcome, in 18 different languages and the difference they make to the area.
Cool, calm and collected and a strong technique saw our winning ambassador Eduardo Fuentes successfully to the finish line, with a time of 1 minute 45 seconds. Eduardo was awarded his certificate by GUINNESS WORLD RECORDS Adjudicator, Mark McKinley, at the launch event that evening at The Savoy in front of delighted guests. A colourful and fun surprise as guests celebrated the crown announcing The Northbank BID as “Officially Amazing”. What more could you ask for from a launch event!
