Greening The Northbank – Green Infrastructure Audit

Public Realm

May 23, 2015

Plants and trees in the centre of the city are a truly cherished asset. We wanted to find more about existing greening and opportunities for increasing the urban flora and fauna.

GLA supports greening in London and provided contribution funding for a Green Infrastructure Audit (GI).

LUC were commissioned to undertake a comprehensive study for greening at street level, on walls and roofs. The study identified potential to enhance 3.4 hectares of green space and create 0.6 hectares of new green space.

Northbank has award wining public gardens and hidden green areas which are enjoyed all year round by business, residence and tourist. We wish to enhance these and bring more greening to the area.

The next step is to develop the opportunities identified with property owners & managers. Click here for a digital version of the  Northbank BID Green Infrastructure Audit.
