On Wednesday 16th July, The Northbank team joined with police officers from Westminster and two specialist search dogs at Embankment underground station in Villiers Street as part of a pro-active operation targeting drug use. The police dogs “Wilf” and Rammer” are specially trained to scan passers by and alert the handler to anyone in possession of illegal substances. The operation started at 3pm and concluded at 5pm. During the search there were 13 individuals successfully scanned for drugs and who were dealt with appropriately by the police officers present.
Andy Wood, Business Policing Manager for The Northbank said “the police listened to the concerns of the Villiers Street community and put this effective operation into place. I hope that this is just the start of similar operations in this area.”
